I love this edition of Art Models because it shows the detailed beauty of the human figure within the depths of shadow and light. This is perfect for reference and artist education. I have a few previous editions and love this the most; the others lack the shadow which I needed for study. Also, I do not think that taking the photos with a lot of shadow contrast, as in this book, takes away from other types of artists like graphic designers, cartoonists, etc. I think it adds to everyone's work and lacks NO detail. I can't wait for future editions using shadow and light as in this book.
I really love this book and use it constantly when I'm sketching with charcoal and pastel. I love the dark shadow and the bright highlights on the models. It really pushes the limit of painting or sketching and opens your mind even more to the world of life drawing. It's very expressive and the hard poses really force the creative juices from your drawing material. Make sure you buy extra white charcoal and lots of tinted paper. You will be mesmerized at how fun it is to paint or draw the human figure in dramatic shadow and light in Art Models 6.
This book has been a lifesaver for me. I don't have the time to work with live models, but I want to practice my figure drawing. This book is full of good poses with great lighting. For me, lighting is everything, and if there aren't shadows it's hard to make the end product look decent. Plenty of poses to choose from since there are so many angles. Good variety of different body types and weights. The CD is worth ten times its weight in gold. Recommend.
This is my frist edition of Art models I bought due to the emphasis on light and shadow. The book is good but its missing back shots which are a favorite pose of mine. Still this book manages to save money and by the way I worked with many models and to me there is no difference other choosing your compostion and angle or eye level but that's it you get the same practice. Great Buy hoping to see a bigger book with bigger pictures. I would strongly recommend

The book "Art Model 6" The Female figure in Shadow and Light is an excellent reference book because finally the book gives the artist information about the form of the figure with more shadow and light contrast. This is so important in creating a dynamic and realistic fine art drawing or painting. The added CD allows you to view the model 360 degree and in various angles and you are able to tranfer the images on the CD to your computer which is not possible with other Artist Model reference book. For all those who long to create beautiful works of figurative art, this is an indispensable guide. It has been a great resource for me personally. The great benefit of this product is the disc of photo references, which is in and of itself worth the cost. Highly recommended.
I wish there was more diversity in the women, and some of the poses are unhelpful. But overall its a nice art book that helps when i need to work with shadow or expressions.
