This is a very well written book. As I was reading the book, I found myself down on the field, or in whatever the situation was. I would recommend this book to anyone, it is not just about the team, but about everyone involved in their many years of success.

This book was full of history about BSU that I wasn’t aware of, even as a student there. I couldn’t put it down.

My husband and I attended the author's book event at Annie Bloom's in Portland and purchased our copy of Boise State of Mind there. Since Amazon only allows one review for each account, here is my husband, John Atwell's, review:I thoroughly enjoyed "Boise State of Mind" and learning about the different coaches, players and characters that helped made Boise State the football power it became. Gunderson share insights to this football team that were previously unknown to individuals outside their program. I highly recommend this book to any sport’s fan whether or not you are loyal to Boise State.And here is mine: I'm not a sport's fan...and certainly don't know much about football (and never watch a game), but I wanted to read this book and chat about it with my husband (to his horror!). I found the backstory of the coaches and players fascinating. And even though I'm not a sport's gal, I enjoyed so much about this book--especially the conservations with my husband about coaches and players referenced in several chapters. A tremendous amount of research went into Boise State of Mind, but Gunderson brought it all together in an easy to read story about this college football team--often tagged the underdog. I found myself extremely touched, at the end, when some of the students shared that underneath their Bronco uniforms they secretly wore University of WA colors in support of their previous coach, (Peterson) who now leads the Huskies. That particular line touched me greatly, and I realize how important a coach can be in helping build a young athlete's character. I was very impressed with the entire story...from the beginning to the last page.

I have to admit that I was a skeptic at first: I don’t particularly care for “sports” stories in general. However, I was surprised and impressed with the way this book told the story of a community, and the people that made the football program great, as opposed to just being a play-by-play of the Fiesta Bowl. I laughed out loud, I cried...I thoroughly enjoyed the entire book from cover to cover. I read it in three sittings! It keeps you coming back for more.

These have been a hit to enclose with a card to the sick, discouraged or just someone you are thinking about!I am so glad to have gotten them. I have almost used them all.

 I didn't pay close enough attention when I was placing my order for these cards. I thought that I would be receiving note cards but as it turns out, these are single sided, heavyweight and slightly larger than business cards. There are 44 different designs in the cards.My recent purchases from this publisher had led me to expect only a few with Biblical reference but it turns out that there are 28 cards with actual scriptural cites on them. There are an additional 10 which deal with God or other religious connotations. Finally, there are six general feel-good cards. I was surprised in a very good and happy way to see a larger focus on both Old and New Testament verses.The cards are 4.25 x 3.25 inches. Most have the designs printed horizontally on the card with a few vertical designs. The card stock weight is very good and heavy. The front of the cards have a good tooth feel for good coverage for coloring pencils. The back of the card has a glossy finish that feels as if there is some type of coating on it.I have been pondering how to use these cards and have decided I really like them as cards versus note cards. I can always mount them on blank cards if I wish to use them that way (as I do when I make cards with rubber stamp techniques.) They are also item to have on hand when our church home group meets at our house. It will be a fun way to take a break or to end the evening.The designs are printed fairly small and I found that using my ultra-fine markers, smaller nib gel pens, and hard lead coloring pencils worked the best for me. Some of the cards have very tiny areas to color but that is to be expected with such a small coloring area.None of of my coloring medium bled through this paper. Not even the alcohol-based markers had a color shadow – zip, zilch, nothing. That makes it some of the best coloring card stock I have used. It is a really heavyweight paper and it behaves better than most other card stock I have used. My coloring pencils worked well but there wasn't really enough surface to do much with blending; however, when I tested them, the soft lead pencils did blend well.These are the coloring medium that I use for testing. If there is something else you feel I should be testing, please let me know and I will see if I can add it to my growing pile:Markers: 1) alcohol-based – Copic Sketch, Prismacolor double ended markers (brush and fine point), Sharpies (fine and ultra-fine) Bic Mark-its (fine and ultra-fine) and 2) water-based – Tombows dual end markers (brush and fine point), Stabilo 88, and Staedler triplus finelinersIndia Ink: Faber-Castell PITT artist pens (brush tip)Gel Pens: Sakura, Fiskars, Uni-ball Signo in the following sizes - 0.28/0.38/0.5/1.0 and TekwriterColoring Pencils: Prismacolor Premier Soft Core, Derwent Colorsoft, Prismacolor Verithins, and Faber-Castell Polychromos

These cards are tiny but that's ok. the card stock is very good and I was able to color mine with Copic markers and stay in the lines. Some people with eyesight or hand coordination problems may find the cards a bit small (they are smaller than a post card) but this makes them convenient for travel and there is a card for all occasions. They do NOT come with envelopes and are just a single sided note card - the are NOT folding cards. As such I wanted to beef mine up a bit so I also purchased 50 Blank Greeting Cards & Envelopes 5x7 A7 White - 65lb. from Amazon. This allowed me to glue these note cards onto a blank folding card of good weight and then mail them in rectangular envelopes. This also allowed me to write a message on the inside of the "card". I used a glue stick to glue it on the blank cards - but these must be purchased separately. These particular cards are so thick you really don't need to worry about bleed thru with markers either way.

These are great, however, the designs are way too intricate and hard to color (my personal opinion). It's too much detail and too small. I'd rather have larger/less detail, but that's just me. On the bright side, the paper quality is great, it's thick card stock with nice surface. Cards look great, I'd just take out some of the more detailed ones and throw in some that I can actually color in less than 8 hours each :)

I love these cards! I bought them and have been delighted!!! Some designs are simple for quick coloring, others are more detailed. I intended to color these to have on hand to give away on various occasions. My recipients seem to be delighted with them. It's a thick heavy stock and doesn't show much tooth when using coloring pencils. Sometimes I accent with small touches of glitter gel. These cards are amazing and would buy them again. In fact I did. I had found these cards elsewhere while on a camping trip and liked them so much that I ordered these for a Christmas gift. These would not bleed through with gel pens or sharpies.

These are really nice. The card stock is thick. I used markers on them and the ink doesn't bleed through. The sayings on these are nice. I get the joy of coloring them and then the joy of giving them to someone. The sayings range from comforting, cheerful, faith and just nice. I bought the whole set. I highly recommend these. Great price and hours of enjoyment. 44 cards. The boxes they come in are so nice you can repurpose them for other uses. I did a couple for a family member in the hospital and they cheered her up. If I see someone having a bad day I just pick the appropriate one and give it to them. It's nice to make someone's day better and these are perfect for that.

I wished these were larger. They are just too small to do any variety of coloring on. I should have paid attention to the size, because I was expecting them to be much larger, like greeting cards. They are more like a little larger than a business card. I will pay attention to the sizes of things like this in the future.

Love these so much!! So relaxing to color and I use them to put in cards that I send out or as gift tags on gifts! I use fine point sharpies on mine and there is no smearing, yet the card has a smooth glossy feel.

Don't waste your money. These are not full cards that you can open up and They are way too small to use as a postcard. I found this ad to be Somewhat misleading. The only thing I could see that you could use these things for is possibly a bookmark. I am very disappointed in this purchase. With the price plus the shipping, it's not worth it.

This reprinted volume, first published in 1869, is one of several books of letters still in print written by the Rev. John Newton (1725-1807), perhaps best known in the 21st century as the author of “Amazing Grace.” Newton rightly believed he had a gift for expressing spiritual truths in the form of personal letters, and these examples demonstrate both Newton’s intense interest in people and his remarkable spiritual discernment. For my part, I read the book slowly, a letter or two at a time, using it more for devotional, than leisure-time, reading.

One of the best biographies I have ever read. I'm reading it for the second time and have purchased a copy for my pastor and recommended it to others. The chapters are just the right length. It is easy to read and to be "caught up" in. Very accurate handling of his relationship with William Cowper, which other authors have mishandled. Memorable book.

The book is great, BUT the Kindle version is a different book than the hardbound copy. The Kindle has hundreds of Newton's letters organized by topic, while this hardbound book has the letters organized by recipient. I didn't read the whole Kindle version, so I don't know whether all the letters are the same in both versions. I've reported this to Amazon.

The Lord was generous to John Newton in many way, but perhaps his greatest gift was his ability to craft letters that simultaneously spoke truth but also love. Many times I am overcome with awe and emotion (tears) in his ability to communicate God's truths so clearly and beautifully. HIs letters provide comfort and drink for thirsty souls. I have several Newton books of correspondence, but I would recommend either "Select Letters of John Newton" or even better "Jewels from John Newton" over this one

Without sitting down and writing an advice book, John Newton did write personal letters to real people with Biblical exhortation applied to actual situations. The letters in this book share similarities with the minor epistles (written by Paul, John, Peter and Jude) - but not in a Canonical sense, mind you.I wish I had heard about this book a long time ago - it's good stuff.

From reading John Newton's letters, I get the impression that he was uncompromisingly Biblical in his beliefs & doctrine , but , as a person , seems very genuine & kind. I wish that we were able to keep up writing correspondences like that these days. I bought the book for myself but enjoyed it so much that I soon bought another copy to send to a friend --who is also enjoying it very much.

I have been provoked to deeper thinking through these letters. Whether I like a person's ideas or not, when they cn provoke me to deeper thinking, this makes them a worthy read.

The content is great. But, the size of the Kindle edition is unwieldy and awkward. Suggest buying "Selected Letters."

Sometimes simplicity is genius. I am so glad I have kindle on my phone to easily access these positive gems anywhere. I am a firm believer that a positive thought at the beginning of the day makes a huge difference, so this book is an excellent resource.

Not what I expected as far as being a book... Looks like I could've printed it out quotes on separate sheets and put them together myself and call it a book. It was a gift for my S-I-L, I wish I would've gone with my first choice. She said it's great because of the quotes but wished there was a days countdown style. Day 1.... Day 2... etc.

A simple and at the same time profound book that touches something more in our soul. The author devoted his book to the motivational statements of famous people, encouraging them to act and forcing them to think about something more and motivating them to do things that significantly improve our life and self-awareness.

I found the book to contain a great number of helpful quotes that I will use for clients in my therapy practice.

The book is okay...not as inspring as i thought it would be but there was some good stuff in there.

Nice to have this as a daily reminder in tough times.
